OUR PICK OF THE CROP…

Albury Estate Blanc de Blancs 2015, Surrey

This Chardonnay and Seyval Blanc based sparkling wine is quintessentially English, with its pale lemon colour, citrus and fresh herbs on the nose, and fresh gooseberry palate. Well balanced with a hint of honeyed sweetness and honeyed almond it is ideal for drinking on its own, but with enough crisp acidity for it to go with foods such as smoked fish or light meat dishes.

Albury Estate Sparkling Rosé 2014, Surrey

This gold award-winning elegant and natural rosé is a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes. Pale salmon in colour, this is an elegant dry bubbly with subtle summer fruit aromas and red berry flavours that linger on the palate with unusual depth for a sparkling rosé.

Albury Estate Silent Pool Organic Rosé 2017, Surrey

An elegant, fresh, classically pink-hued still rosé wine made from hand-picked Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes – this is our wine of the month and Matthew Jukes recently described it as “near perfect in every respect”. Subtle red berry and bright citrus aromas on the nose are followed by fresh summer flavours of strawberry, peach and pink grapefruit on the palate. The wine is balanced by clean minerality and crisp acidity, with a long mouth-watering finish.

Coddington Vineyard Bacchus, Herefordshire

Developed in Germany, Bacchus is widely grown in the UK and combines Sauvignon Blanc briskness and crisp, green notes; with more tropical fruit flavours developing as the wine matures. Coddington Vineyard’s Bacchus has been roundly commended and shows classic elderflower and grass, mellowed with bottle age.
