One of our values is always asking what’s next? So, with this mind, we have been looking at new farming techniques to reduce our impact on the environment even more. This led us to Grassroots® – an organisation that provides high quality meat that’s farmed using regenerative farming practices.

Regenerative farming operates in a way that improves the farm environment – using techniques to improve, or maintain, at the highest possible standard:

• Soil health
• Water quality
• Air quality
• Biodiversity
• Animal welfare
• Family, workers and community

Grassroots beef is independently assessed using the Farm Carbon Toolkit. The toolkit found that beef for Grassroots farms resulted in 52%* less carbon than typical beef herds in the UK.

The change in farming method also reduces the impact of the cattle on the local environment.

Grassroots farming standards require farmers to reduce their use of fossil fuel derived inputs (fertiliser, feed, fuel), while maintaining productivity, by adopting regenerative principles and techniques.

*The Farm Carbon Toolkit found that Grassroots beef produced 17.27kg/CO₂e for each kg of beef – compared to 35.73kg of CO₂e for the average beef herd.
