Opera In The Garden – 20 July 2022
20th Jul 2022
Beneath the grandeur, elaborate sets and period costumes of traditional opera lie everyday dramas – characters embroiled in family feuds, relationship issues and the highs and lows of falling in and out of love.
This unique production by Rogue Opera weaves a modern story, with new original dialogue, through opera’s big tunes; the tear-jerkers, the crowd-pleasers and, of course, the drinking songs (all performed in their original languages). Encompassing friendship, betrayal, intrigue, love, laughter and mischief, it’s a great evening of entertainment.
Come and meet some of opera’s most famous characters, up close and personal, at Bel & The Dragon Cookham
Follow our Awesome Foursome as they navigate their way through the highs and lows of their love lives and relationships, channelling some of opera’s most famous music and characters.
Facing betrayals in friendship and love, they’ll question themselves, their characters and their destinies – each embarking on a quest to change themselves to find true love. Or maybe they’ll realise that happiness comes from the simple things – good food, good wine and good company…
Tickets are priced at £20 per person. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
What To Expect
This outdoor performance, set in the convivial location of the local pub, throws off the formalities of the traditional opera setting and immerses the audience in an informal and completely unique experience. With the audience close enough to the performers to feel the vibration of every note and within arm’s reach of the bar, there is no better way to while away a summer evening.
If you are bonkers for Bizet or passionate about Puccini, ‘Carmen’ join us for a spectacular of opera’s big tunes; the tear-jerkers, the crowd-pleasers and, of course, the drinking songs – for an evening to remember – it would be a Traviata-sty to miss it!
What happens if it rains?
No matter rain or shine, THE SHOW MUST GO ON! Nothing says British outdoor theatre than a bit of drizzle, so waterproofs are advised. We’d also like to encourage you to BYOB (Bring Your Own Blankets) to stay all wrapped up and cosy.
