The Devil’s Punchbowl is a large hollow of dry sandy heath to the west of Hindhead. There are various routes across this area steeped in intrigue and mystery surrounding Gods, Devils and murderous highwaymen. It’s said that Sir Auther Conan Doyle used Hindhead as inspiration for “The Hound of the Baskervilles”.
This route is a relatively short one through the central areas – extend the route by going for the peaks to the north and east.
