Comedy Night in the garden

Quip Shed Comedy is coming back to The Bel & The Dragon in Churt on Friday 6th September, and coming with them is Ben Pope, Dane Buckley, host Ross Smith, and headliner - TV'S Harriet Kemsely!

Ben Pope is a stand-up comedian and writer, gigging regularly across the UK. His Edinburgh 2018 debut stand-up hour Baby Sasquatch transferred to the Soho Theatre in June 2019, and he took his sophomore show Dancing Bear to the Pleasance Courtyard at the Edinburgh Fringe the same year.

He was the Piccadilly Comedy Club New Comedian of the Year Winner 2017 and has placed as a finalist in So You Think You’re Funny and Comedy Cafe New Act of the Year 2015. He started comedy at university where he was the President of the Cambridge Footlights (2013-14) and has previously worked with the award-winning NewsRevue, and appeared on Comedy Central’s Achievement Unlocked and BBC New Comedy Award on Radio 4 Extra.

He is also one third of the cult sketch group Princes of Main who were part of the line-up at London SketchFest in 2016, host the monthly mixed-bill night Crazy Science Stupid Magic and have had sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 and 2017. Their critically acclaimed show New Year’s Eve (‘the future of sketch comedy is in safe hands’ – The Telegraph) transferred to London’s Soho Theatre in early 2018.

Dane Buckley burst onto the comedy circuit in 2022, making a name for himself by winning Gong Shows (Beat the Frog World Series, The Comedy Store’s King Gong, Top Secret’s Gong, to name a few) and has been a finalist in LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year (2022) and 2Northdown’s New Act competition (2022).

Dane has supported Tom Allen, Rosie Jones, and My Therapist Ghosted Me on tour. He recently filmed for Comedy Central Live, and is a regular on the club and festival circuit. Dane was also featured as one of Skiddle.com’s best up-and-coming stand-up comedians in 2023.

Ross Smith is taking the comedy circuit (and the internet) by storm. Having only started gigging in 2015, he's a regular at some of the capital's biggest comedy clubs. Ross's personable, relaxed style and contemporary material, underpinned by clever wordplay and self deprecating humour, has made him one of the country's most exciting emerging acts.

In 2018, he made headlines around the world when he agreed to go on holiday with complete strangers, taking the place of another man called Ross Smith. His viral adventure and the aftermath was the subject of his debut Edinburgh show, I Am Ross Smith!

'One of my favourite new acts' - Joel Dommett
