Afternoon Tea For Two

The tradition of taking Afternoon Tea as a light meal is said to have been started by Anna, the Dutchess of Bedford in the 1840’s. Often troubled by hunger pangs between lunch & dinner, Anna felt that taking tea, delicate sandwiches, cakes and biscuits at 5 o’clock helped to bridge the gap. Over time, many a well-heeled acquaintance joined her and the custom has continued ever since.
