For our first Supper Club of 2018, we are delighted to partner with renowned Champagne House Laurent-Perrier. Founded in 1812 by Monsieur Laurent, Laurent-Perrier has been avant-garde in creating unique and elegant champagne for nearly 200 years making it one of the world’s most esteemed Champagne Houses and also the largest family-owned brand.

I have spent many years living & working in the South of England where good restaurants & hotels are plentiful. Bel & The Dragon may not share the scale of some of the big industry players, but it is my belief that we take care of each and every guest to the very best of our ability. In fact, this is where I think we really come into our own. The warm welcome, the unique combination of architecture & heritage, the décor, the food & wine – the extreme attention to every little detail is what really sets us apart and creates happy lasting memories.

Anything and everything can happen in the back of a kitchen, mine included. As such, I have learnt to be prepared for the unexpected in my role as head chef. I oversee all aspects of the culinary operation including food preparation, recipe & menu development, purchase control, training, recruitment and health & safety.

A good country inn serves good food & offers a good night away. We all know that. A great country inn needs to deliver more. What really makes a great country inn is a consistency and attention to detail – attention to every little detail, right down to the freshly picked herbs, the glassware, the cushions, the books on the shelves, the tartan blanket at the foot of each bed. If all of these ingredients are in place then the recipe is a winning one. Bel & The Dragon is somewhere that I would choose to eat & stay.

Music, lighting, furnishings, decor & many other ingredients combine to create warmth, comfort & plenty of old-world country charm. They work together in much the same way as the food & a carefully selected wine. It just makes a lot of sense when they find their way into each other’s company.
