Supper with Olivier Leflaive

Olivier Leflaive is indeed the king of Puligny-Montrachet and our relationship began with him many years ago. As one of Burgundy’s most respected wine producers, Olivier is renowned for offering wines of exceptional quality, consistency and style. We are immensely proud to be working alongside him in producing our very own Bel & The Dragon white and red Burgundies and are delighted to showcase both at our July Supper Club.

Our lightly oaked white Burgundy, which combines grapes from Mersault & Puligny-Montrachet is a great place to start. Rich lemon and apple notes greet you on the palate and are perfectly balanced with hints of creamy vanilla that melt into an elegant finish. Our English Farm Asparagus with Truffle Crème Fraîche is the perfect complement to this slightly buttery Chardonnay.

Our red Burgundy is a Pinot Noir from Puligny – Montrachet. Exclusive to Bel & The Dragon, its beautiful redcurrant & cranberry flavours wash down perfectly with our Josper Grilled Veal Chop with Violet Artichokes & Rosemary. What’s more, this Cuvée Margot is the only one of Olivier’s wines that he has ever named after one of his children…

To finish, we step away from Burgundy & across to Bordeaux. The sweet whites from the Sauternais region are among the most intriguing wines produced anywhere in the world and Château Briatte, Sauternes 2009 is certainly no exception. The atypical climatic conditions allow the grapes (Semillon, Sauvignon & Muscadelle) to reach full maturity. This gentle, fresh, easy drinking wine is the ideal accompaniment for our White Chocolate Parfait with Poached Rhubarb & Crushed Honeycomb. The perfect sweet conclusion.
