Our first Supper Club of the autumn season on Tuesday 6th September will delve into the world of Italian wine. With 20 different regions, hundreds of DOC designations and even more native varieties, it is no surprise that Italy is the world’s largest wine producer. That said, the majority of the harvest remains in its country of origin. After all, wine is food to the local folk and it is rare that a meal is consumed without a glass or two. Yes, Italian wine is a foodie wine that complements a myriad of dishes.

Brunello, Vin Santo & Pinot Grigio will all feature on our menu next month alongside a three-course feast of fresh local produce, promising something rather special for any wine enthusiast.

Fresh, clean & crisp with bright aromas, the 2015 Pinot Grigio from Santa Margherita is a wine of great personality & consistent quality. What’s more, it is excellent as an aperitif and ideal with a variety of starters. Our Rocket & Pecorino Risotto with Extra Virgin Olive Oil complement its crisp, citrus notes flawlessly.

Next in line is the seductive Millecento Brunello, 2005. Produced only in exceptional growing years, the 2005 variety is the fruit of a meticulous selection of estate-grown grapes. On the palate, this wine is complex, warm, full of personality and pairs perfectly with our mouthwatering Marinated Veal Chop with Lemon Zest & Rosemary.

For the ultimate sweet conclusion then look no further than the Vignamaggio estate. With caramel, barley sugar and a spicy, citrus tang, the 2008 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico Vignamaggio is a delectable dessert wine and, served alongside Kaz’s Tiramisu, makes for a sumptuous, delicious treat.

Enjoy this perfectly paired Supper Club menu at your nearest Bel & The Dragon on Tuesday 6th September at 7pm for just £55 per person. Spaces are limited to twelve guests per restaurant and sell out quickly so find a Supper Club near you and book now…
